Contacting Airbnb as a host: chat, official phone number, safety line and how not to fall for fake numbers

By message or chat from the Help Centre, or by phone on the number Airbnb publishes for Spain. Beware of fake support lines: Airbnb never asks you for passwords or payments over the phone.

Applies to: good management practice, not a legal rule

Short answer: you write to Airbnb by message or chat from its Help Centre (the "Report another issue" option if it is a new matter) or you call +34 91 123 45 67, the number it publishes for Spain on its official customer service page (October 2026). For a safety problem there is a 24-hour safety line, and for an emergency, 112. Any other "support number" you find by searching on Google may be a scam: Airbnb says it never calls you to ask for passwords, codes or payment details, and that a request to pay outside the platform from someone claiming to represent it may be fraud.

Where do I start?

Airbnb suggests this order, and in practice it is the quickest:

  1. With the guest, through the booking's messaging. Airbnb says it is the fastest way to resolve whatever is happening with a listing or a booking.
  2. Help Centre (airbnb.es/help): almost every host question has an article.
  3. Customer service by message or chat: you can pick up a matter you have already discussed or choose "Report another issue". If an agent asks for your permission to access your account and review it, you can refuse.
  4. Phone, for urgent matters or whatever cannot be resolved in writing.

If the problem is with a specific booking and you cannot reach an agreement, Airbnb can mediate: you ask for it from the Resolution Centre or from the booking itself (in its help for guests, the option is called "Get help").

What is Airbnb's official phone number in Spain?

The one Airbnb publishes in its article "Getting help from Airbnb customer service": +34 91 123 45 67 (October 2026). The same page adds a useful tip: if you receive a call claiming to be from Airbnb and you have doubts, hang up and call that number yourself.

To always have the right number, do not copy it from a search engine or a forum: type the address airbnb.es into the browser yourself (or open the app), go to the Help Centre and look for that article. Airbnb explains that scammers create fake phone numbers that look like theirs and can spoof the caller ID so that "Airbnb" appears on your screen. The page on suspicious calls also cites its United States number (1-844-234-2500); for a host in Spain, the one to use is the +34 number.

And if it is an emergency or a safety problem?

  • Ongoing emergency (someone injured, a fire, a fight): call 112, the single free emergency number in Andalusia. Airbnb says the same: first the local emergency services, and if you do not know the number, its app lets you call them.
  • Safety problem that is not an emergency: Airbnb has a 24-hour safety line; by phone, email or chat you receive priority assistance from a team trained in safety.
  • Complaints from neighbours about an Airbnb flat: they have their own channel, the neighbourhood support service.

What is the Resolution Centre and when is it used?

It is Airbnb's tool to request or send money related to a booking: a partial refund because something did not work, a payment from the guest for something they broke or an optional service they hired. The deadlines (October 2026):

What Deadline
New money request Up to 60 days after check-out
Damage claim Within 14 days after check-out
Telling Airbnb about a problem so it mediates 72 hours from when it becomes known
Replying to a mediation request 1 hour

It cannot be used to charge for extra nights or guests (that goes through "Change reservation") or, with exceptions, to charge mandatory fees that were not in the listing price. If the guest does not pay for the damage, Airbnb's protection can reimburse part of it: we explain it in AirCover for hosts and in the deposit on Airbnb and Booking.

How do I tell a fake email, message or call?

The signs Airbnb gives:

  • Urgent or threatening tone: "we are suspending your account", "you will lose the booking", "your payout is delayed" if you do not click a link or give some information right now.
  • Links that do not start with https://www.airbnb.com or with a country address, such as https://www.airbnb.es. Any other is fake, even if it looks similar.
  • Odd senders: Airbnb only writes from its official domains (for example, @airbnb.com, @host.airbnb.com or @guest.airbnb.com). Addresses such as @bnb.com or @reservation-airbnb.com are fake.
  • They ask for what Airbnb never asks for over the phone: changing your payout method, sharing one-time codes, your password or payment or payout details.

If in doubt, do not reply, do not click any link and log in to your account by typing the address yourself. Fake websites are reported at airbnb.com/report-phishing. If you have already given any details, tell Airbnb straight away and, if they were payment details, your bank too.

Can Airbnb ask me to pay for something outside the platform?

That is not how it works. Airbnb prohibits communicating, booking and paying outside the platform (with limited exceptions, such as taxes the host must collect in person) and warns that a request for payment outside Airbnb, including from anyone claiming to represent Airbnb, may be fraud. The typical signs: bank transfers, cheques, postal orders and PDF or paper invoices. If someone claiming to be from Airbnb asks you for a payment over the phone, hang up and call the official number yourself.

How do I report a suspicious message?

  1. Go to Messages and open the conversation.
  2. Click the three dots on the message (in the app, press and hold it).
  3. Choose Report this message, pick a reason and click OK.
  4. Add the details they ask for and click Send.

You will almost always also be able to block that person so they cannot write to you again.

What does a manager do with this?

A manager who comes in as co-host with full access can ask Airbnb for help with booking problems and handle your listing's Resolution Centre, so they are the one who talks to Airbnb through the official channels and opens claims within the deadlines. If you get an email or a call "from Airbnb" that does not add up, check with them before replying. As the listing stays in your account, you keep access to everything.
